Australia Day on the Northern Beaches

Australia Day

14 Jan Australia Day on the Northern Beaches

Australia Day is a celebration like no other. It’s the day that we wear our daggiest thongs, barbecue everything, drink tinnies and listen to Triple J’s Hottest 100. If you’re lucky enough to be enjoying a rental property on the Northern Beaches on this special day, there are plenty of additional ways to celebrate.

Australia Day citizenship ceremonies

Scattered across various locations are the Australia Day citizenship ceremonies. These ceremonies are a very important for new citizens and their loved ones. A popular place for these ceremonies is Governor Phillip Lookout in Beacon Hill.

Visit an organised event

The biggest celebration on the Northern Beaches is at Dee Why Beach. There’s a barbecue breakfast, entertainment and inflatable water slides.  Try your hand at the ultra-competitive thong throwing contest if you dare. There are also Australia Day events at Newport Beach, Berry Reserve, and Manly Beach.

Eat Aussie delicacies

No Australian celebration is complete without lamingtons, barbecued food, Tim Tams, pavlova, and fresh prawns (and a few Australian beers if you’re over 18). Not much beats chowing down on our favourite foods by the pool or local beach. Most beaches have barbecue facilities, however they will be VERY busy – we recommend getting in early.

Northern Beaches Accommodation

A beach apartment is perfect for Australia Day. Wander down to the, beach, view the celebrations in Manly, and entertain outside. We definitely recommend the Concorde apartment, located in Manly.
